Wire Typography

How awesome is this? Dan Hoopert, an eighteen year-old college student in the UK has re-imagined an alphabet made of virtual wire. Using 3D modeling software, Hoopert striped down a simple serif font to its essential architecture, to highlight the intricate web of lines and curves that make up the backbone of typographical design. 

 The result? An alphabet of naked letters, beautiful enough to stand on their own.

Après-ski: Part I - Slim Aarons

I’ve always been enamored with all things après-ski. Not because I’m a great skier (hardly!), but because I adore the glamorous lifestyle the term represents: Alpine slopes, rustic chalets, hot toddies, stylishly-clad skiers, and the sense of promise and relaxation that can only be found on a sporty mountain holiday.

Celebrated photographer Slim Aarons described his photography as capturing "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places." He also loved skiing and often vacationed with his family in Gstaad, Switzerland. It’s not surprising then that when the sport of skiing became all the rage after World War II, he could be found among the members of high society, shooting the beautiful people at winter resorts from Stowe to St. Moritz.

Aren't these images fantastic? Slim Aarons never used stylists or make-up artists on his shoots. Instead, he utilized natural light and let the people and scenery speak for themselves...
